Two public events in October at the IRR

In October 2013, the IRR will be holding two public events at its Kings Cross office.

The first, on Thursday 3 October, ‘Bad news for refugees’, is a conversation between Greg Philo and Frances Webber, on media coverage and government policy on asylum issues.

Greg Philo is the Research Director of the Glasgow Media Group and author of Bad News for Refugees and Frances Webber is a retired human rights barrister, vice-chair of the IRR and author of Borderline Justice: the Fight for Refugee and Migrant Rights.

The other, on Thursday 17 October, is the launch of a new Smokestack book, Footprints, a collection of poems by radical black poet Peter Blackman. Chris Searle (compiler/editor) and Colin Prescod (IRR chair) will be speaking at the event.
