This October Kick it Out, football’s anti-racism campaign, is encouraging action against racism.
From October 18-29, Kick it Out, which works throughout the football, educational and community sectors to confront racism, is hosting events as part of their ‘One Game, One Community’ season of action against racism in the game. Throughout October, Kick it Out is encouraging schools around the UK to team up with professional clubs, amateur teams and community projects in order to promote football’s ability to promote multiculturalism. According to Kick it Out: ‘In the past community groups have found innovative and effective ways to use the period to tackle issues relevant to their communities, such as issues of community conflict or areas of discrimination.’
They will also be hosting a series of panel discussions on subjects such as:
- The role of social media in football
- A new scheme to combat antisemitism
- The contribution of players of African heritage to the game
- A focus on the setbacks the sport has suffered over the last year
Kick It Out is also hosting a consultation for fans of Premier League and Football League clubs to share their views on racism and discrimination in football. To have your say, fill in an online questionnaire here.
