On Monday 6 December, the inquest will begin in to the death of Habib ‘Paps’ Ullah, who died in July 2008 after he was arrested by police in High Wycombe.
Habib’s family have waited over two years to find out how he came to die following a routine drugs search which involved five police officers. The inquest is expected to last ten days and Habib’s family are calling on people to attend the inquest and show their support. Saqib Deshmukh from the Justice4Paps campaign commented: ‘Whilst the family and the campaign do not hold out too much faith in the legal process and any possibility of a successful prosecution against the officers, they want to ensure that there is some accountability and action as well as recommendations for Thames Valley Police and other forces particularly in regard to mouth searches.’
The inquest will take place in Iver, Slough at the Evreham Adult Education Centre (Swallow Street, Iver SL0 0HS), from 10-5pm each day. The nearest train station is Iver which is on the Paddington-Slough line and the centre is five minutes from Iver station by taxi and ten minutes from Slough or Uxbridge by car.
