This week, the IRR publishes a report, Racial violence: facing reality, on how racial violence is shaping the UK, read the press release or download the report here (pdf file, 180kb).

Jon Burnett assesses a report from British Future which advocates a new patriotism, while Ryan Erfani Ghettani reviews a report by a community group in Liverpool on recent attacks on the Irish community by the far Right. We also publish a comprehensive article by Aisha Maniar on the privatisation of court interpretation services.

And in news from across the UK, a Cameroonian asylum seeker has made serious allegations of assault against private security guards from Tascor, during a deportation. It has been revealed that asylum has been granted to 15 Sri Lankans who were deported by the UK Border Agency (UKBA) and then tortured on their return.

And finally a 24-year-old man, Andel Malia who suffered with mental health problems, has died after suffering a cardiac arrest in Lister hospital.
