Dear IRR News subscriber,

This week, the IRR’s Ryan Erfani-Ghettani assesses a new publication from the rightwing think-tank Civitas. The IRR’s council of management have been busy too, our chair, Colin Prescod ‘waxes lyrical’ about the Robinson Institute exhibition which looks like a must-see. And our vice-chair, Frances Webber, has finished her book, Borderline Justice: the fight for refugee and migrant rights, the IRR is co-hosting the launch on Monday 22 October with Pluto Press and the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association.

In news from across the UK, the UK Border Agency has ordered G4S and Serco to provide weekly reports on the progress of new contracts to provide housing for asylum seekers. The Association of Chief Police Officers has released hate crime data which shows that 82 per cent of recorded offences in 2011-12 were racially motivated and two Metropolitan police officers have been sacked for making racist comments
