From Copenhagen to Malmö, from Tottenham to Molenbeek, Europe’s multi-racial neighbourhoods are stigmatised by journalists as ‘parallel societies’ and ‘gang controlled’. But the Daily Mail met its match in French campaigner Marwan Mohammad who, in a series of hilarious tweets which we republish, took apart the lies, factual mistakes and other inaccuracies in its report on Saint-Denis, in northern Paris.

Amid the fanfare surrounding the enhanced rights given to ‘data subjects’ under the Data Protection Act, the ‘immigration exemption’ removes rights of access to Home Office files if officials believe disclosure will prejudice immigration control. Frances Webber examines the dangers inherent in allowing such secrecy: not least, the possibility of new Windrush scandals being suppressed.
