Dear IRR News subscriber,

This week, Jenny Bourne assesses a report by the Panel on the Independence of the Voluntary Sector and asks whether the voluntary sector is under threat. Frances Webber reports on legal challenges to the eviction of asylum seekers in Scotland and how there is indifference from official channels to asylum seekers’ concerns about their belongings when they are detained.

In news from across the UK, the family of Mark Duggan have been told they will have to wait until September for the inquest into his death which will be held before a judge. Corporate Watch has written an extensive article assessing Capita’s contracts to find and remove overstayers. And a parliamentary inquiry has been told that the asylum support system is forcing families into destitution.
