Dear IRR News subscriber,

This week, we highlight demonstrations taking place across Europe in protest at continuing violence against Roma communities in the Czech Republic.

And news from across the UK, Tower Hamlets Council has apologised unreservedly for failings in the care of 15-year-old Alex Kelly who ‘wanted to be white’. He was found hanged in a young offenders’ institute.

As the government discusses military intervention in Syria, the conviction and imprisonment of a Syrian refugee who was found to be carrying false documents has been criticised. And plans are afoot to convert a prison in Dorset into an immigration removal centre. And traders in Newham have complained about ‘massively intimidating’ immigration raids.
