And in other news from across the UK, one of the men charged with the murder of Simon Tan in Carrickfergus in 1996 has been refused bail after an ‘orchestrated campaign’ in the town to thwart the police investigation. The home secretary, has announced an independent review in to allegations of police corruption during the investigation in to the murder of Stephen Lawrence and the Spectator has been ordered to pay £5,625 after breaching reporting restrictions during the trial of the men accused of the murder of Stephen Lawrence.
